I found this article on Drudge/The Daily Express of England. Global Warming is a Con Game being played out before our eyes on a massive stage. This author thinks it has reached a point with some people as that of an religon. Anyway, check out the actual article on the Daily Express webpage (link below).

But, here are some highlights lifted from that article-printed below.

1. The review by the InterAcademy Council (IAC) was launched after the IPCC’s hugely embarrassing 2007 benchmark climate change report, which contained exaggerated and false claims that Himalayan glaciers could melt by 2035.

2. Among the blunders in the 2007 report were claims that 55 per cent of the Netherlands was below sea level when the figure is 26 per cent.

3. It also claimed that water supplies for between 75 million and 250 million people in Africa will be at risk by 2020 due to climate change, but the real range is between 90 and 220 million.

The claim that glaciers would melt by 2035 was also rejected.

4. Professor Julian Dowdeswell of Cambridge University said: “The average glacier is 1,000ft thick so to melt one at 15ft a year would take 60 years. That is faster than anything we are seeing now so the idea of losing it all by 2035 is unrealistic.”

BP Says it Stopped the Oil Finally

After 85 days and 180+ million gallons of crude oil and methane released into the Gulf of Mexico, BP released the news that they had finally stopped the flow of oil! They said that at 3:25 pm EST, the last of three values were closed on the 75-ton call. Now they are into a 48-hour wait and see period to see if the cap will hold or not.

But it is just a temporary fix. BP still is depending on the relief well that is closing in of the original pipe.

Larry Hagman – Shine, Baby, Shine

J.R. Ewing is dead it seems… but 78-year old actor Larry Hagman is still going on strong. He is now the pitch man for SolarWorld, a German company that is making solar cells in the USA. In fact, the actor admits he has ‘barrow’ Sarah Palin’s fmaous quote “Drill, Baby, Drill” and adapted it for the new energy campaign.

“Shine, Baby, Shine” ad cmapign will so air on television.

Quoting the actor, “When affordable oil gives out, we’re in real trouble — I mean the collapse of civilization, within 15 to 20 years.”

Hagman has been a longtime advocate for alternate energy. He serves on the board of Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF). This is a non-profit organization that brings sun-powered projects to developing countries. Solarworld is helping out in Haiti with the donation of 100 kilowatt solar panels to power five clinics on that island.

In closing, Larry Hagman stated the following, “We’ve got a work force that’s looking for jobs. We’ve got a long line of people returning from wars.”

NASA – The New State Department?

Sorry about that bad pun about the NASA administrator, Charles Bolden. Couldn’t resist it. But the main reason for this post is this “new” mission for NASA to “Improve” relations with the Muslim World…

The first objective is a no brainer. Inspire the youth for the sciences. The second one also a no brainer: improve international relations. The ISS (International Space Station) is that example. The third part, I will quote this part specifically, (Quote)to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering(End Quote).

I question the use of the word “dominantly” in this statement. Alarm bells are going off in the back of my brain over this statement and I cannot put my finger on it specifically. Call a hunch, or the Force is tingling; alerting me to something is wrong here.

The other link is the rebuttal. Michael Griffin, former NASA administrator under the Budh administration.

(Quote) Griffin said Tuesday that collaboration with other countries, including Muslim nations, is welcome and should be encouraged — but that it would be a mistake to prioritize that over NASA’s “fundamental mission” of space exploration.

“If by doing great things, people are inspired, well then that’s wonderful,” Griffin said. “If you get it in the wrong order … it becomes an empty shell.”

Griffin added: “That is exactly what is in danger of happening.”

He also said that while welcome, Muslim-nation cooperation is not vital for U.S. advancements in space exploration.

“There is no technology they have that we need,” Griffin said. (End Quote).

Griffin is right. No middle eastern muslim nation has the technology that we need to improve space flight over what we already have. So again, what gives with the Obama administration telling Bolden to go out and make these statements other than protecting his paycheck?

FINALLY-Assistance for Gulf spill

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States is accepting help from 12 countries and international organizations in dealing with the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

The State Department said in a statement Tuesday that the U.S. is working out the particulars of the help that’s been accepted.

The identities of all 12 countries and international organizations were not immediately announced. One country was cited in the State Department statement — Japan, which is providing two high-speed skimmers and fire containment boom.

More than 30 countries and international organizations have offered to help with the spill. The State Department hasn’t indicated why some offers have been accepted and others have not.

Darth Vader Speaks About Political Campaigns

Most people don’t realize that I’ve done some dabbling in political campaign management, but there are actually a lot of less-than-glamorous projects I’ve had to take on as second-in-command of the Galactic Empire. I’ll bet you’ve never read about my involvement in the Empire’s Environmental Protection Division either, have you?

Ah, well . . . sometimes a job well done is its own reward.

Remember: before my boss permanently dissolved the Imperial Senate, our subject worlds were still under the impression that they got to select their own representatives in fair, democratic elections. Although assassinating Senate candidates that didn’t agree with the Emperor’s agenda solved the problem in most cases, we sometimes had to use more covert methods of influencing local elections. And that meant sending in Imperial agents to help influence the vote on some planets.

So, did playing a part in developing political campaign strategy for candidates in elections across the galaxy make me gain a new appreciation for the democratic process? No, not in the least bit. But I was surprised to find myself admiring the utter inhumanity and unscrupulousness that I observed in a many local politicians; a few of them would have made halfway decent Sith, but for the lack of Force abilities.

In fact, working with politicians made me realize why my master decided to wear the mask of a Senator to hide his true form from the Jedi: people expect politicians to be slimy and exude a loathsome aura, so no one suspected Palpatine of doing anything other than living up to his job description.

US Bowing Out of Space Exploration?

Leaving his cave(joking), Neil Armstrong, noted First Man on the Moon; appeared before the US senate to warn them that if put into effect, the United States of America will lose its leadership position in space flight under President Barrack H. Obama’s new NASA space exploration plan.

Speaking at a hearing before the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation yesterday along with former fellow astronauts Eugene Cernan (last man on the moon). A co-author to the April letter to President Obama, Cernan took a more blunt term about the proposed plan. Quote: ”blueprint for a mission to nowhere”.

Going further, Eugene Cernan stated that the new planis short on details, and does not commit enough money to support human space exploration. His concern is that the development of a heavy-lift rocket needed for exploring space beyond low-Earth orbit – which is now deferred until 2015 under this new budget proposal. In fact, with it pushed that far back, funding for a new booster might never take place.

Quoting Eugene Cernan again, “Now is the time to overrule this administration’s pledge to mediocrity.”

Failure to fund NASA properly will set the nation/NASA back by a decade.

Another astronaut, Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 was the thrid co-author of that open letter to Presdient Obama. Quote: ”For the United States, the leading spacefaring nation for nearly half a century, to be without carriage to low Earth orbit and with no human exploration capability to go beyond Earth orbit for an indeterminate time into the future, destines our nation to become one of second- or even third-rate stature,” the astronauts’ letter read.

But not all former NASA astronauts are against plans to cancel the Constellation program. Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, Armstrong’s Lunar Module pilot on Apollo 11, actually supports President Obama’s plan.

Natural Gas Leaking Instead of Oil – Possible Game Changer

Well, we might have some good news for a change based upon a ABC news report (May 11, 2010), by Jeffrey Kofman entitled “Natural Gas Slows Oil Leak in Gulf of Mexico.”

The nature of the oil has changed from that broken well head on the floor of the Gulf of Mexico. More Natural Gas is now mixed in with the oil which is actually reducing the amount of oil leaking out into the ocean now.

Satellite images from May 1st and today shows the oil slick smaller in size. Now, if this is truely the case, then the plan to fire rubber tires and gold balls into teh pipe to clog it up may have a decent chance of working now. The other option is drilling the relief well to reduce the pressure will still take months to complete.

Deepwater Horizon Target of North Korea Special Ops Service?

A grim report circulating in the Kremlin today written by Russia’s Northern Fleet is reporting that the United States has ordered a complete media blackout over North Korea’s torpedoing of the giant Deepwater Horizon oil platform owned by the World’s largest offshore drilling contractor Transocean that was built and financed by South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd., that has caused great loss of life, untold billions in economic damage to the South Korean economy, and an environmental catastrophe to the United States.

Most important to understand about this latest attack by North Korea against its South Korean enemy is that under the existing “laws of war” it was a permissible action as they remain in a state of war against each other due to South Korea’s refusal to sign the 1953 Armistice ending the Korean War.

To the attack itself, these reports continue, the North Korean “cargo vessel” Dai Hong Dan believed to be staffed by 17th Sniper Corps “suicide” troops left Cuba’s Empresa Terminales Mambisas de La Habana (Port of Havana) on April 18th whereupon it “severely deviated” from its intended course for Venezuela’s Puerto Cabello bringing it to within 209 kilometers (130 miles) of the Deepwater Horizon oil platform which was located 80 kilometers (50 miles) off the coast of the US State of Louisiana where it launched an SSC Sang-o Class Mini Submarine (Yugo class) estimated to have an operational range of 321 kilometers (200 miles).

On the night of April 20th the North Korean Mini Submarine manned by these “suicidal” 17th Sniper Corps soldiers attacked the Deepwater Horizon with what are believed to be 2 incendiary torpedoes causing a massive explosion and resulting in 11 workers on this giant oil rig being killed outright. Barely 48 hours later, on April 22nd , this North Korean Mini Submarine committed its final atrocity by exploding itself directly beneath the Deepwater Horizon causing this $1 Billion oil rig to sink beneath the seas and marking 2010’s celebration of Earth Day with one of the largest environmental catastrophes our World has ever seen.

To the reason for North Korea attacking the Deepwater Horizon, these reports say, was to present US President Obama with an “impossible dilemma” prior to the opening of the United Nations Review Conference of the Parties to the Treat on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) set to begin May 3rd in New York.

This “impossible dilemma” facing Obama is indeed real as the decision he is faced with is either to allow the continuation of this massive oil leak catastrophe to continue for months, or immediately stop it by the only known and proven means possible, the detonation of a thermonuclear device.

Russian Navy atomic experts in these reports state that should Obama choose the “nuclear option” the most viable weapon at his disposal is the United States B83 (Mk-83) strategic thermonuclear bomb having a variable yield (Low Kiloton Range to 1,200 Kilotons) which with its 12 foot length and 18 inch diameter, and weighing just over 2,400 pounds, is readily able to be deployed and detonated by a remote controlled mini-sub.

Should Obama choose the “nuclear option” it appears that he would be supported by the International Court of Justice who on July 8, 1996 issued an advisory opinion on the use of nuclear weapons stating that they could not conclude definitively on these weapons use in “extreme circumstances” or “self defense”.

On the other hand, if Obama chooses the “nuclear option” it would leave the UN’s nuclear conference in shambles with every Nation in the World having oil rigs off their coasts demanding an equal right to atomic weapons to protect their environment from catastrophes too, including Iran.

To whatever decision Obama makes it remains a fact that with each passing hour this environmental catastrophe grows worse. And even though Obama has ordered military SWAT teams to protect other oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico from any further attack, and further ordered that all drilling in the Gulf of Mexico be immediately stopped, this massive oil spill has already reached the shores of America and with high waves and more bad weather forecast the likelihood of it being stopped from destroying thousands of miles of US coastland and wildlife appears unstoppable.

And not just to the environmental catastrophe that is unfolding the only devastation to be wrecked upon the United States and South Korea by this North Korean attack as the economic liabilities associated with this disaster are estimated by these Russian reports to be between $500 Billion to $1.5 Trillion, and which only a declaration of this disaster being an “act of war” would free some the World’s largest corporations from bankruptcy.

Important to note too in all of these events was that this was the second attack by North Korea on its South Korean enemy, and US ally, in a month as we had reported on in our March 28th report titled “Obama Orders ‘Immediate Stand-down’ After Deadly North Korean Attack” and which to date neither the Americans or South Korea have retaliated for and giving one senior North Korean party leader the courage to openly state that the North Korean military took “gratifying revenge” on South Korea.

And for those believing that things couldn’t get worse, they couldn’t be more mistaken as new reports coming from Japanese military sources are stating that North Korea is preparing for new launches of its 1,300 kilometer (807 miles) intermediate range ballistic “Rodong” missile which Russian Space Forces experts state is able to “deploy and detonate” an atomic electromagnetic pulse (EMP) device, and which if detonated high in the atmosphere could effectively destroy the American economy for years, if not decades, to come.

Now my take on this – I’m not going to come out and say that this is impossible. Look at how the 9/11 terrorists used hijacked airliners against us in a unique way back in 2001. If North Korea was stupid enough to actually attack the United States and South Korea (remember it’s ship being sunk by one of these sucide torpedos recently?). I would personally assumed that any attack against the US would come at us from the Pacific.

But if this article is correct, this is more about directing US/UN policy towards a certain direction. And what of North Korea’s submarine capabilities? While writing this post for The Shanks Dimension, I decided to sidetrack a little and research that subject. Links to that are lisited below as well. It would be interesting to know if this midget sub was a Yugo class or one of the newer p14s. The picture with this post is of the “Sang-O” class that was captured in the 1990s.

After more than a year in office as President of the United States, Barack H. Obama, has left this nation vulnerable to attack by our perceived lack of a backbone. On Drudge Report, there was this article “Miss him? Bush’s reputation might be ready for a rebound.” Personally, I would say yes as far as foreign policy goes.

Anyway, this story is developing like the rest of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig sinking/oil spill. I am sure more details will be coming out this weekend.

UPDATE 3: Found some more interesting links relating to North Korea and mini-subs. My thinking now is to collect some interesting links together into one spot (this article) for basically one-stop shopping when it comes to the “theory of North Korea mini subs used to attack the Deepwater Horizon oil rig.”

Then we have Iran who is not happy with the result of their mini submarine program with help from the North Koreans. I haven’t heard of this aspect to the theory, but what if Iran wanted to strike at the US, but needed North Korea and Cuba’s help to carry the mission off. As in the use of the cargo vessel Dai Hong Dan. And then staging out of Havana. This picture of the Iranian built mini sub comes from this website(http://www.strategypage.com/militaryforums/462-3054.aspx). To me, from this angle, this might be the Korean P-4 class mini sub.

ON a forum dealing with military photos, I found this post dated Aug 29, 2007 by someone named drakegoodman. They were talking about the North Korean mini submarines back then and this person posted a short list of incidents… Note: Snag-o in Korean means Shark from what I understand…

*A North Korean shark class sub ran aground near the city of Kangnung, on the east coast of South Korea. A taxi driver came across two “prowlers” on the night (0055 hours) of September 19, 1996. He also noticed an odd vehicle just off shore and contacted police. A massive manhunt was begun, which ultimately ended with one captured North Korean Submarine, a captured North Korean Commando, 13 North Koreans killed by South Korean Forces (and another 11 killed by their own team) and 17 South Korean dead (13 Military and four civilians). Maps and Weapons ranging from assault rifles to RPG-7′s were recovered from the sub.

*On June 24, 1998 near Sokch’o, a North Korean submarine was spotted, stranded with its propeller fouled by fishing nets. The South Korean Navy took it under tow and over the period of two days moved it to the port of Kang-Reung. South Korean EOD and Special Mission Unit members boarded the vessel where it was found the entire crew had died, some killed by others who later killed themselves. As with the earlier submarine, assault rifles and RPG-7′s were dfound in the hull, and in this case explosives were found.

*On December 18th, 1998 members of the South Korean Army Coast guard spotted a high-speed boat pass by 2km off shore using an infrared optical scope. Patrol boats rushed to the scene and gave chase in an effort that ultimately saw action by eight patrol boats, P-3C II Orion and S-2E Tracker anti-submarine aircraft, Lynk helicopters, CN-235 cargo aircraft operating as flare ships, and a flight of F-5 fighter/bombers. After repeated orders to surrender were finally answered with gunfire, one of the SOuth Korean patrol boats opened fire and hit the fleeing vessel with three 40mm grenades. Five depth charges dropped in its path sealed its fate and the vessel sank. The body of one armed agent wearing a wetsuit was recovered a couple of hours later, an autopsy revealed that he had died before the boat had sunk by ingestion of a poison capsule. And lets not forget our own US Navy when it comes to mini submarines. “Robots position girant box over oil-spweing well” by Harry R. Weber, AP. May 7, 2010.

This article tells of the efforts to position the 4-story tall, 100-ton concrete and steel box over one of the blown-out well heads on teh bottom of the Gulf of Mexico. 5,000 feet below the surface, the huge containment box was ready to move into its final position.

It is hoped that this would be able to collect as much as 85% of the oil spilling out of the well head. Robot submarines were still working on securing the structure in position.

From the position of the containment box, the wreckage is about 1,300 feet away on the sea floor.

BP crews were still drilling a relief well in the hopes of relieving the pressure of the oil leaking out of this site.

UPDATE 20 (June 21, 2010): This commentary comes via Faultline USA….New information about Deep Water Horizon disaster raises many questions Posted: 10 Aug 2010 07:25 AM PDT. Commentary by James H. Shott –

In the early days following the Deep Water Horizon disaster that killed 11 workers and unleashed a gusher of oil into the Gulf of Mexico, one early reaction was to assess blame, and the logical targets for that blame were BP and the companies associated with it on that project, Transocean and Halliburton.

There is no question that BP bears much of the responsibility, however, in the weeks since the disaster a great deal of information has come to light that makes it evident that some of the blame belongs to parties other than BP.

The initial reactions were highly emotional, which is understandable, given that this disaster cost the loss of eleven workers. But emotion often clouds issues, and so it is with the Deep Water Horizon catastrophe.

A lot of damage has been done along the Gulf Coast, but the breathless forecasts of environmental calamity appear at this point to have been highly exaggerated. It is estimated, for example, that 75 percent of the approximately 200 million gallons of oil are “missing,” substantially lessening the potential damage to the environment.

Where did the oil go?

In my May 18 column was this: “Casting some needed light on the nature of oil spills, Merv Fingas, of McGill University and Environment Canada, wrote a piece published on the Minerals Management Service Web site, explaining that a lot of the spilled oil isn’t going to be a problem. ‘Evaporation is the most important change that most oil spills undergo. In a few days, light crudes can evaporate as much as 75 percent of the starting oil mass and medium crudes up to 40 percent.’ Some of the rest of the oil is absorbed by seabed sediment and never reaches the surface or shorelines. ” And some of it was collected; some was burned off; some was devoured by oil-eating bacteria.

Even so, a lot of oil did not evaporate, and wasn’t burned off, or collected, or eaten, and a lot of it made it to shore and caused a lot of damage. But we have learned that the damage from the oil spill could have been reduced, perhaps completely prevented, except that a party other than BP messed up.

The Washington Times addressed this issue recently, noting that, “Letting skimmers in early would have cleaned up much of the oil in Gulf waters at a relatively low cost before it fouled sensitive coastal marshes,” and that “BP isn’t accountable for additional cleanup costs and damages that resulted from government’s failure to give a green light to this process.”

“Delays and obstructions caused by the federal government are numerous,” The Times continued. “Countries such as Sweden and the United Arab Emirates offered skimmers in April, well before oil slicks hit coastal areas. Months later, they [were] still waiting for Washington’s approval. When Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal set up 16 barges to vacuum oil from his state’s waterways … the Coast Guard ordered them to stop while bureaucrats checked to make sure the machinery was made in the USA. Mr. Jindal also had to wait for weeks while the federal bureaucracy took its time deciding whether barrier islands could be built off the coast to stop oil from drifting into marshes. Meanwhile, tar balls floated ashore.”

And this is possibly the most significant issue of all, except for what caused the explosion: The Center for Public Integrity asserts that the federal government may well bear responsibility for much more than the incompetent response to requests for help: “Coast Guard officials told the Center for Public Integrity that the service does not have the expertise to fight an oil rig fire and that its response to the April 20 explosion may have broken the service’s own rules by failing to ensure a firefighting expert supervised the half-dozen private boats that answered the Deepwater Horizon’s distress call to fight the blaze.”

“The question of what caused the platform to collapse into the Gulf two days later remains unanswered,” CPI said, a crucial point in accurately assessing responsibility, “because the riser pipe from which the majority of BP’s oil spewed did not start leaking until after the rig sank. Experts and some lawsuits have openly tied the sinking of the drilling vessel to the severity of the leak.”

When the rig tipped over and sank, did it strike and damage the riser pipe, unleashing the gusher of oil into the Gulf?

Could it be that in addition to failing to respond to requests to help Gulf Coast states prevent serious environmental and economic damage the federal government, because of the Coast Guard’s fire fighting error, is actually responsible for most of the oil spill, or all of it?

And what role did politics play in this crisis? Is it true that, as The Times suggested, the Swedish and UAR skimmers were kept out to protect American union workers? Was the incomprehensibly slow federal response a political move to improve the case against continued use of fossil fuels?

There are many questions to be answered, and possibly several villains in addition to BP, Transocean and Halliburton, and all must be held accountable.

Mr. Scott left out the possibility that this was a act of war by North Korea. A suicide mission. Other than that, I can’t find fault with his commentary.

I was NINE years old when we landed on the moon. Now according to President Obama’s latest speech about American manned spaceflight – at minium, I would be 71 years old by the time the US gets around to going out to Mars!

No Fracking Way! (To barrow a useful word from the TV series “Battlestar Galactica”).

I have previously agreed with our President that we should booster private space companies who can provide ‘taxi’ service duties (eventually) up to the International Space Station. I still agree with that part of his plan.

We have already spent about $9 billion on the Orion part of the Constellation Project and now, as an after thought; we’ll develope a smaller version (can anyone say “Apollo?”) to be used as a lifeboat at the international space station. Problem is getting the damn thing UP to the space station.

And oh, maybe a new heavy-lift booster decision will be made in 2015.

China is not a part of the space station partnership.

Russia charges the United States $51 million a seat on its Soyuz capsules. The price increases to $55 million in 2013.

Part of Obama’s plan is to develop commercial U.S. space taxis to avoid reliance on Russia.

SpaceX, owned and operated by Internet entrepreneur Elon Musk, already holds NASA contracts worth nearly $1.9 billion to develop and fly Falcon 9 rockets and Dragon capsules for space station cargo resupply missions.

Virginia-based Orbital Sciences Corp has NASA contracts of similar value for its Taurus II-Cygnus system, which is scheduled to debut next year. end Quote.

Screw a future generation of American children. Already overtaxed, what the hell are THEY going to dream about? What will they want to be when they grow up? ”I want to be a astronaut” will turn into what? “I want to be a faceless government bureaucrat in a grey cube somewhere in no-name USA doing a meaning less government job?!” Because being employed by the government in such a meaning less job is the only job growth to be seen on the horizon.
