Scott Brown Won!

Scott Brown stood before a crowd celebrating his victory declaring he was “ready to go to Washington without delay.”  The crowd was chanting “Seat him now.”  This was because of strong fears that Democrats would try to find a way to block Brown long enough to complete the congressional passage of the Obama Health Care plan.  Brown has stated all along that he was opposed to that plan.
Coakley was the favored one that Obama tried to save.  But, 3 for 3 now, whenever Obama goes out to support a Democrat candidate, they lose.  Brown’s victory was the third major loss for the Democrats in statewide elections since Obama became president. Republicans have won governors’ seats in Virginia and New Jersey back in November.
Brown now becomes the 41st Republican in the 100-member Senate.  This will allow the GOP to block the president’s health care plan.  But the Dems understand the tea leaves here (pun intended!).  Democratic lawmakers are going to start to care for their own necks now than try to push Obama’s broader agenda for the nation.
According to AP/comcast.net, Brown lead by 52 percent to Coakley’s 47 percent with all but 3 percent of precincts counted.  Turnout was high for this special election in January with a light snow taking place in parts of the state.
And Brown is going to be the first Republican senator from Massachusetts in 30 years.
