The Fort Hood Attack – Terrorism or Sabotage?
Now that several days have past since the Mad Major’s attack on fellow soldiers at Fort Hood army base in Texas, I am beginning to think how to ACTUALLY classified this attack.
My meaning is this, and I toss it out into the blog-verse because I really do not know and would like comments on the following idea. The incident I write about is since Major Hasan was in uniform, on a military base, and his victims were mostly military personnel; would this not technically be an act of sabotage against the United States of America? Now the METHOD used was of a terroristic nature.
This writer is worried that the bureaucratic Generals in the Pentagon will pay more attention to Political Correction than run the profiling or extra security measures needed for those members of the U.S. Armed Forces who are of the Muslim faith.
Anyway, to anybody who comes across this post, please leave a comment about your thoughts on this matter of if it is really terrorism or sabotage.
UPDATE: After speaking with some friends, I think 5th column might be better for what I was searching for to begin with. Major Hasan does not qualify for the status of ’spy,’ (i.e) conducting a mission behind enemy lines, to gather intelligence, then commit sabotage before trying to escape back to friendly lines.
UPDATE 2 (November 17, 2009): Check out this link below from counterterrorism blog. It pretty much answers the questions that I was seeking with this posting of mine.
