This lady police officer ended the Mad Major’s Murderous rampage at Fort Hood by firing four bullets into him. For her efforts, the diminutive 34-year old police officer was wounded in the battle.
Sgt. Kimberly Munley spent five years as a cop in North Carolina before relocating to Texas. Close friend Drew Peterson said of Munley, “She was born and bred to be a police officer. If you were ever to be in a fight, she’d be the first person to stand up next to you and back you up. She’s a tough cookie.”
Sgt Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of the reproted gunfire. Munley had been trained in active-respnse tactics, rushed into the building then confronted Major Hasan when they exchanged shots at one another when Hasan rounded a corner and came into her view.
US Army Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said of Munley, “It was an amazing and aggressive performance by this police officer.” General Cone also said Munley’s aggressive response training taught her that “if you act aggressively to take out a shooter you will have less fatalities.”
“She walked up and engaged him,” Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said. He praised her as “one of our most impressive young police officers.”
The NY Daily News found her Twitter page and posted the following quote of hers in their article: ”I live a good life….a hard one, but I go to sleep peacefully @ night knowing that I may have made a difference in someone’s life.”
Officer Munley’s brother, Daniel Barbour told ABC news that his sister had been shot three times in the hand and the leg. One of those bullets pierced an artery, requiring her to undergo surgery.
Sgt Kimberly Munley is married and has two daughters and is no longer in the armed forces.
