Fort Hood Shooter – Major Hasan – The Face of the Enemy Within
Some 39-year old U.S. Army major decided to join the
side of the enemy today. A officer and a gentleman
as the old saying goes. This psychiatrist was set
to be shipped overseas. He ended up killing 12
people and left 31 wounded. The news media reports
that this is the worst ever mass shooting on a
military base in the United States early this
afternoon. The incident tok place at 1:30pm.
Major Hasan was wounded in his shooting spree and
now in custeoy. Lt. General Bob Cone told the news
media that Maj. Hasan was in critical condition
having been shot four times.
President Barack Obama called the shooting a
“horrific outburst of violence.” And “It’s
difficult enough when we lose these brave Americans
in battles overseas. It is horrifying that they
should come under fire at an Army base on American
soil.”
Maj Hasan had been transferred to Fort Hood in July
from Walter Reed Medical Center, where he received a
poor performance evaluation. Sen. Kay Bailey
Hutchison (R-TX) said generals at Fort Hood told her
that Hasan was about to be deploy overseas.
Retired Colonel Terry Lee, who had worked with Hasan
before, that he (Hasan) was most likely to shipped
off to Afghanistan. That was what he told Fox News.
In the Ap article, the reporters made note of the
fact that Hasan had two non-military issue pistols.
One of which was a semiautomatic.
Lee also told Fox News that Hasan had hoped that
(president) Obama would pull troops out of
Afghanistan and Iraq. In fact that he got into
frequent arguments with others in the military who
supported the wars.
It must be noted here that when on base and not
conducting weapons training, soldiers do not carry
weapons around. Fort Hood is midway between Austin
and Waco and covers nearly 340 square miles. It is
home to 52,000 troops.
The Soldier Readiness Center holds hundreds of
people and is one of the most populated parts of the
base, said Steve Moore, a spokesman for III Corps at
Fort Hood.
The wounded were dispersed among hospitals in
central Texas, Lt. General Bob Cone said. Their
identities, and the identities of the dead, were not
immediately released.
Additional details about Major Hasan is as follows.
Hasan’s family said he was born in suburban
Washington, that he is single with no children. He
graduated from Virginia Tech, where he was a member
of the ROTC and earned a bachelor’s degree in
biochemistry in 1997. He received his medical degree
from the military’s Uniformed Services University of
the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Md., in 2001 and
was at Walter Reed for six years for his internship,
residency and a fellowship.

My Commentary on this incident: Its time to stop the Political Correctness B.S. Its time to do Profiling again and it must first start in our military. Then to the rest of American society. It must be done!
UPDATE: Another Fine American has died of their wounds bringing the total up to 13 dead. I have added a link in the Ref. section below to a article on World Net Daily about the Security risk muslims in our military and as private contractors are putting our nation at risk. Also a very good post from Michelle Malkin dealing with this issue.
