Christian Janitor Saves Muslim Women With His Own Life

You need to read this story.

A Christian janitor working at Islamabad’s International Islamic University saved a whole bunch of Muslim women at that university from a Muslim terrorist with a suicide belt on.

Back on October 20, two suicide bombers launched near simultaneous attacks on both the men’s and women’s side of the campus.  The janitor’s name was Pervaiz Masih.  According to eyewitness accounts, the attacker was disguised in women’s clothing and had shot the guard on duty.  He then approached the cafeteria where hundreds of female students had gathered.  Masih stopped the bomber in the doorway and the suicide bomber self-detonated just outside the crowed room.  The bomb’s ball bearings shot out mostly into the parking lot instead of into the cafeteria.

Quoting that article,  ”Between 300 to 400 girls were sitting in there,” said Professor Fateh Muhammad Malik, the rector of the university.  ”[Pervez Masih] rose above the barriers of caste, creed and sectarian terrorism.  Despite being a Christian, he sacrificed his life to save the Muslim girls.”

Masih was a member of Pakistan’s Christian minority, traditionally one of the poorest communities in the country.  When the attacker struck, Masih had been on the job for less than a week, earning barely $60 a month.

Pervez Masih lived with seven other family members in a single room in a crowded apartment house in the city of Rawalpindi.  His mother, 70-year old Kurshaid Siddique, worked as a cleaning lady at a nearby house to help make ends meet.  Now, she visit’s her son’s grave every day.  When asked if she was proud of what her son had done, her answer is, “My hero is dead now.”

Masih daughter who is three years old, keeps looking at her father’s photograph.  The Islamic University offered to give Diya a free education and to employ his widow, Shaheen Pervaiz.  Also, the Pakistani government has promised to award Masih’s family 1 million rupees ($12,000.00 US dollars) for his bravery.

For now, Kurshaid Siddique would like to have his name in cement with a nice poetry verse.  And there should be a fence surrounding his grave.

I realize the government has promised support, but that could take awhile. I would like to help this family financially. How could I do that? Thank you.

  2. Thank you for responding to the article. That is a good question and I do not know the answer to it. I can only guess that maybe if you contact the Pakistani embassy in Washington, DC. They can direct you to the proper authorities. Or maybe contact that University (Islamabad International Islamic University) and their administration directly (and bypass the Pakistani government that way).

If things work out, please let me know and I will post that contact information if other readers have the same desire to help this family out.
