British Troops Rescue New York Times Reporter

New York Times reporter Stephen Farrell has been held captive by the Taliban in Kunduz for four days when the troops from the Parachute Regiment and the Royal Marines staged a helicopter rescue mission.  One Britsh trooper did lose his life in the raid.
Other reports on teh scene say that a woman and the owner of the house where Farrell was being held also dies. But those are as of yet unconfirmed.
Farrell was being held under orders by the so called “shadow governor” of Kunduz, Mullah Salam.  Salam was out of money and needed to resort to kidnapping to raise funds to contunie to fight the war.
Gordon Brown, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom said the following, “Hostage-taking is never justified, and the UK does not make substantive concessions, including paying ransoms.  But whenever BRitish nationals are kidnapped, we and out allies will do everything in our power to free them.”
